Antoinette Virginia Shively, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 13, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born on January 17, 1940, in Maryland, Antoinette was the devoted daughter of the late Anthony Joseph Comegna and Virginia Rebecca Comegna-Trost. She was proud of her Italian heritage and carried that pride in the traditions, values, and love she shared with everyone she knew.
Antoinette lived a full and vibrant life. She was a graduate of the Catholic High School. She was a proud member of both the Catholic Daughters and the Red Hat Club. She was a secretary at John Hopkin’s hospital for many years where she met the love of her life, Bill. She later realized she had a knack for sales when she joined Princess House Crystal. She quickly climbed up the ladder and won many awards and trips. Latter on in life, she started working in the food business as a broker then to a manufacturer representative at Phillip’s Seafood.
Known affectionately as the life of the party, she had a deep love for music and dancing—joyfully sharing her energy and laughter with everyone around her. Her generous spirit was unmatched; she never hesitated to open her home and heart to those in need, including many loved ones she cared for personally. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, often taking in stray pets as part of the family.
She is survived by her husband, William Shively, and loving daughters, Luanne Paci, Mary Jo DiFilippo (Charles), Antoinette “Toni” Shipe (Scott), Rebecca Goetzke (Ron), and Melissa Shown. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: David DiFilippo, Sarah Rayburn, Patrick Shipe, Gabriella Will, Alexander Shipe, Isabel Paci, Zachary Dubbs, Olivia Shipe, Brandon Dubbs, Maria Shipe, Austin Shown, Dylan Shown, Camden Shown, Morgan Shown, and Joseph Goetzke. She is also survived by her adored great-grandchildren: Sofia, Enzo, Matteo, Paisley, Theo, Chayse, Jackson, Noah, Savannah, Joshua, Lily, Waylon, and Hugo.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandsons, Anthony DiFilippo and Nicholas Dubbs, whose memories she held close to her heart.
Antoinette's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends whose lives she touched.
