Adele Engel Obituary

Adele Mae Engel (nee, Adelsberger), age 87, of Catonsville, Maryland, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Catonsville Commons Nursing Home in Catonsville, MD.

Born May 28, 1932 in Emmitsburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Dwen and Adele Adelsberger. Adele was happily married for 27 years to the late Eugene L. Engel.  Adele also found companionship for 18 years in the late Theodore J. Storm.

Adele was a lifelong communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Catonsville. Adele was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many.  Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and laughter will never be forgotten.

Adele is survived by four sons, William Engel and his spouse Stacey, Joseph Engel, John Engel and his spouse Kelly, and Robert Engel and his spouse Christina; two daughters Susan Engel and Barbara Engel; nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren; one brother John Adelsberger, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and companion, Adele was predeceased by four brothers, James O. Adelsberger, Joseph Adelsberger, Jr., Francis Adelsberger, and Eugene “Gus” Adelsberger, and four sisters, Jane Adelsberger -Streets, Martina Adelsberger-Mooney, Ann Adelsberger-Fleischman, and Alice Adelsberger-Dunn.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at New St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 333 S. Seton Ave. Emmitsburg, Maryland 21727.
